Faculty Development and Research Programs EURASIA/SOUTH ASIA TEACHING EXCELLENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM The Eurasia/South Asia Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and is administered by IREX, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization. JUNIOR FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (JFDP) The Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State, and is administered by American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS. The Junior Faculty Development Program provides opportunities for higher education professors and instructors to improve their teaching skills and develop new teaching materials on a semester-long exchange program at a university in the United States. JFDP is funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State. Individuals may apply for fields in the humanities and social sciences. The competition is open to citizens from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and residents of Kosovo. To qualify for a JFDP Fellowship, an applicant must: - hold a university degree;
- be currently teaching at an institution of higher education;
- have at least two years of teaching experience at an institution of higher education; and,
- have a mastery of the English language.

OSI/FCO CHEVENING/UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD The program is for scholars wishing to conduct postgraduate research as a Visiting Student. Duration of the program - 9 months. This period of study will not lead to the award of diploma or degree. Applicants must submit a research proposal - clear and detailed, stating the specific objectives and expected outcomes of the research to be conducted in Oxford and how this links to candidate's post-graduate research. Fields of Study - Humanities, Social Sciences or Environmental Sciences. Language of study - English. The program is administered by the Soros Foundation Kyrgyzstan. OXFORD COLLEGES HOSPITALITY SCHEME For scholars from Kyrgyzstan, who wish to work in the University libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. Preference will be given to those completing work for an advanced degree or working on a specific project such as a book or a new course of lectures. Scholars receive free single accommodation and meals, plus small allowances for photocopying, books, and personal expenses. The cost of travel may also be covered by Soros Foundation - Kyrgyzstan. Awards will support up to three non-consecutive semesters as a US university, where the grantees will create innovative approaches to curricular and pedagogical reform in their field of specialization and develop regional and international institutional partnership. Each reward recipient will spend one semester at a university in the United States and one semester teaching in their home country each year for two years. The program is administered by the Soros Foundation Kyrgyzstan. http://www.soros.kg/en/educational_scholarship/ | CURRICULUM RESOURCE CENTER (CRC) The Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) is Central European University's (CEU) external and internal resource, consultancy, and training unit in curriculum development and related issues with a special emphasis on social science and the humanities. CRC is part of the Special and Extension Programmes (SEP) and is funded by Open Society Institute's Higher Education Support Program (OSI - HESP). CRC's main goals are capacity building, providing targeted resources to selected academics, consultancy, as well as professional development in higher education. CRC Projects: Curriculum Research Fellowship; Course Development Competition; Spring/Fall Sessions. Competition starts in October and April. Only students who have been accepted into a full-time doctoral (Ph.D.) program at an accredited university are eligible to apply. Grants are provided to help cover costs in one of the following categories: Tuition and fees - not to exceed 50% of tuition and fees per academic year; Living expenses - students who have succeeded in funding their tuition, either through scholarships or tuition wavers, are eligible for housing and living funds; Other - students who have secured all necessary funds but cannot afford additional expenses, such as travel to/from their host country, books, materials, health insurance, etc., are eligible for additional funds. FULBRIGHT FOREIGN RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright. This is a two-way exchange program for senior scholars, researchers and professionals from countries worldwide who have doctoral degrees. Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program awards grants to U.S. scholars and professionals to lecture and conduct research at institutions at 125 countries in wide variety of academic disciplines for one semester or academic year. The Public Affairs Section hosts two or three American professors to teach and consult at Kyrgyz educational institutions for one or two semesters each year. Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program awards grants to foreign scholars to conduct post-doctoral research at U.S. institutions for one academic year or term. Grants are awarded in the following fields: political science, law, business, economics, education, pubic administration, journalism and American studies. Both U.S. and Kyrgyz finalists are selected on the basis of academic and professional qualifications and potential, and on the ability and willingness to share ideas and experiences with their counterparts.
