Undergraduate: Michigan Technological University The International Programs and Services Office at Michigan Technological University is pleased to announce that we are still accepting applications and awarding scholarships for the Fall 2010 semester. Eligible undergraduate students may receive up to $6,000 in tuition assistance for each academic year, up to 4 years. Undergraduate: Bergen Community College Introduces new AAS in Event Planning and Management Bergen Community College located in Paramus NJ, just 30 minutes from New York City, introduces the Associates of Applied Science in Event Planning and Management (AAS, Business Technologies, Hotel/Restaurant/Hospitality - Event Planning and Management Option). Students who choose this option should have strong organizational and communication skills. Business relies on successful events to encourage growth and promote enthusiasm throughout an industry in regards to their company. The Event Planner coordinates and organizes meetings, luncheons and other special events. Some Event Planners ensure that the company conducting the meeting or event is aware to the facility's services and limitations. Undergraduate, Graduate: University of Mount Union The International Award is given automatically to non-native English speaking applicants who qualify based on a review of a student's English language proficiency level at the time of acceptance. To qualify for the International Award, applicants must be admitted as an F-1 degree seeking student and hold a valid I-20 form which will be issued by Mount Union and must not have completed their entire secondary school education in an English curriculum. The award amounts are the following: • 45-60 iBT (PB TOEFL scores between 450 and 497) or an IELTS score of 4.5 - $7,500 award • 61 iBT (PB TOEFL scores at 500 and above) or an IELTS score of 5.0 and above - $10,000 award In addition, we also offer need based financial aid and if an international student qualifies as according to the College Board's International Student Financial Aid Application it could mean an additional $6,000 for a total max of $16,000. Our total cost for 2010-2022 for tuition, fees, room and meals is $32,584 so on average we can help with about 50% of the total cost. GRANTS- ARIT RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS 2011-2012 American Research Institute in Turkey / National Endowment for the Humanities Advanced Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2011-2012: ARIT/NEH Advanced Fellowships cover all fields of the humanities, including prehistory, history, art, archaeology, literature, and linguistics as well as interdisciplinary aspects of cultural history for applicants who have completed their academic training. The fellowships may be held for terms ranging from four months to a full year. Stipends range from $16,800 to 50,400. ARIT Fellowships for Research in Turkey, 2011-2012: ARIT Fellowships are offered for research in ancient, medieval, or modern times, in any field of the humanities and social sciences. Post-doctoral and advanced doctoral fellowships may be held for various terms, from one to three months up to terms of a year. Stipends range from $4,000 to $16,000. Kenan T. Erim Fellowship, 2010-2011: The Erim fellowship will support excavation or field study of excavated material remains at Aphrodisias during the summer 2011, $2375. Applications for ARIT fellowships must be submitted to ARIT before November 1, 2010. The fellowship committee will notify applicants by late January, 2011. ARIT Language Fellowship Programs 2011: Critical Language Scholarship Institutes in Turkish Language: The program provides support for intensive study of Turkish language at all levels, including air fare, tuition, and stipend. Courses are held in several locations in Turkey. The competition is administered by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers. Visiting Scholars, the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton University The Institute for Advanced Study is an independent private institution founded in 1930 to create a community of scholars focused on intellectual inquiry, free from teaching and other university obligations. Each year scholars from around the world apply to come to the Institute to pursue their own research. Each year up to twenty visiting scholars are offered a membership for a set period and a stipend. Members receive access to the extensive resources of the Institute, including offices, access to libraries, subsidized restaurant and housing facilities, and some secretarial services. Intensive English Language Institute at the University of North Texas Established in 1977, the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) at the University of North Texas provides an outstanding program for academic English, located on the beautiful campus of UNT, which has more than 36,000 students and is only thirty minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. IELI is a 7-level program - ranging from beginner (0) to advanced (6), with eight-week terms and 23 hours of classes weekly. Conditional admission to UNT is available for graduate and undergraduate students for most UNT programs, and no TOEFL score is required for those who pass IELI's Level 6. Also, IELI's Graduate Preparation Course (GPC) substitutes for the GRE verbal test requirement for many graduate programs at UNT. GPC focuses on the reading, writing, speaking, and research skills necessary for successful US graduate studies. 2. University of Dayton's Intensive English Program The University of Dayton's Intensive English Program offers a three-week summer intersession term for English learners who are interested in studying at a U.S. institution. The program, offered from July 8-30, 2010, develops students' interpersonal communication, interviewing, listening and speaking, and presentation skills while introducing them to the American university experience.
About the program: In the morning, students will study grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. Following these fundamental courses, students will participate in a cooperative learning project which will teach them skills to help them in the American university classroom. Students also have the option to meet with University of Dayton professors to learn about classroom expectations and programs of study, or sit in on a class. Students may tour campus or attend a presentation by an admission counselor about the application process. Students are encouraged to live on campus during their time here in one of the University's residence halls. Evening and weekend activities for all participants will include an introduction to local sites and traditions.
